About The Position

This is a transitional role for individuals pursuing Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy. Under the direct and immediate personal supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the trainee assists with pharmacy activities such as medication preparation and inventory management while completing a Board-approved training program. The position is onsite at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg, with a day shift schedule and per-diem work that includes weekend and holiday rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to identify priorities and adjust work habits accordingly.
• Written and oral interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate, orderly records.
• Proficiency in mathematics.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician Trainee (RPTT), State of Pennsylvania, upon hire.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT), State of Pennsylvania, within 2 years.

Nice To Haves

• One year of pharmacy experience.
• Working knowledge of common software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in a manner consistent with the health system’s values.
• Assist with preparing and distributing medications under the direct oversight of a pharmacist.
• Perform data entry and prescription processing in accordance with state privacy and safety standards.
• Maintain pharmacy inventory and assist with operating automation, including restocking and managing automated dispensing cabinets and floorstock.
• Restock, maintain, and monitor automated dispensing cabinets, as applicable.
• Assist with medication deliveries to patient care areas.
• Support medication recalls, removal of expired medications, and diversion prevention activities.
• Adhere to pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations.
