About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, productivity, and performance of a team of approximately 16 Pharmacy Technicians within a high-volume outpatient pharmacy setting. This role serves as a key operational leader, ensuring efficient workflow management, staff development, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and exceptional patient service. Final verification of technician work remains under the authority of a licensed pharmacist. As the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, you will provide leadership and direction to pharmacy technical staff while supporting operational excellence and a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, efficient, and sustainable pharmacy operations that directly support patient care and prescription processing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four (4) years of Pharmacy Technician experience required.
  • Valid Pharmacy Technician Registration in the state of Idaho (or state of practice).
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and coordination for a team of approximately 16 Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Monitor, prioritize, and optimize technician workflow to ensure timely prescription processing and service delivery.
  • Support pharmacy operations by overseeing activities related to medication preparation, dispensing support, and prescription processing for pharmacist verification.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide guidance to technician staff to ensure high-quality performance and professional growth.
  • Coordinate onboarding, training, competency development, and ongoing education for Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Develop and maintain employee work schedules to support staffing needs and operational demands.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, performance evaluations, corrective action processes, and other employee relations activities in partnership with pharmacy leadership and Human Resources.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and operational metrics and lead performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, organizational policies, and pharmacy best practices.
  • Support inventory management, record retention, controlled substance documentation, and other operational compliance activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between frontline staff and pharmacy leadership, fostering communication and employee engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow enhancements, process improvement, and increased operational efficiency.
  • Ensure technician staff complete assigned duties and maintain established service standards.
  • Assist with departmental projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
