About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the assigned pharmacy areas, including pharmacy business, purchasing and inventory control, human resources, medication safety and operations. This role supervises various pharmacy technician specialists and technologists who handle critical functions such as financial reporting, drug purchasing, inventory management, human resources, and medication safety compliance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of pharmacy technician experience
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) National Certification; required to maintain PTCB active status.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises pharmacy business functions and related personnel, including asset management, records retention, payroll, administrative support, coordinating free drug for qualifying patients, developing financial reports, reconciling accounts receivables, project management, and governance structure management.
  • Supervises drug purchasing and inventory functions and related personnel, including purchasing approximately 60 million dollars in pharmaceuticals according to 340B rules and at GPO contract prices, receiving pharmaceutical purchases, stocking pharmaceuticals, maintaining inventory in 340B accumulator, managing pharmacy central distribution, and 340B operational optimization.
  • Supervises human resource functions and related personnel, including training and development, orientation, employee files maintenance, recruitment and hiring, related policies and procedures, KCO and trusted requestor processes, resident and student program coordination, and continuing education program coordination.
  • Supervises medication safety functions and related personnel, including sterile processing area (SPA) training, USP 797 compliance, USP 800 compliance, JCAHO and CMS SPA compliance, JCAHO, CMS, and TSBP compliance audits, JCAHO, CMS and TSBP compliance, QA/PI program development and management, and medication use policy and procedure management.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.
