About The Position

Serves as the direct supervisor of pharmacy technicians and select support staff. Ensures appropriate staffing, training, education, and operational needs of the assigned department or unit. Manages, fills, or covers holes and call-offs during weekday scheduled shifts and during on-call responsibilities during off hours. This role involves serving as the hiring manager for new technicians and select support staff, including coordinating orientation and onboarding. It also includes conducting performance reviews and goal setting, creating and reviewing technician schedules, and organizing team meetings. The supervisor will assist in developing and maintaining standards of care, policies, and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as USP <795>, <797>, and <800>. Participation in educational programs and pharmacy department committees is also expected.

Requirements

  • Registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (Registered or Certified Pharmacy Technician), required.
  • Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (PTCB, ExCPT), required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills in pharmacy work environment.
  • Must demonstrate ongoing Inpatient Pharmacy Tech I competencies, knowledge, and skills.
  • Three years’ experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting or outpatient setting, required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the hiring manager for new technicians and select support staff, including coordination of orientation and onboarding of new team members.
  • Conducts 90-day, annual performance reviews, and goal setting for assigned direct reports.
  • Creates and reviews the technician schedule.
  • Organizes and leads team meetings with direct reports.
  • Assists to develop and maintain standards of care, along with policies and procedures in conjunction with Pharmacy Administration.
  • Assists with compliance of all regulatory standards, including USP <795>, <797> and <800> compliance.
  • Participates in formal and informal educational programs, such as classes, in-services, continuing education, and other major educational programs, to meet staff and organizational needs.
  • Participates in pharmacy department committees as deemed appropriate by Pharmacy Administration.
