About The Position

This role involves working closely with clinic teams and utilizing the Epic system, specifically the lot manager function. Key responsibilities include managing NCIR documentation, correcting interface errors, and assisting with the vaccine and injectable ordering process. The technician will also add and update lots and expirations in the lot manager. A significant part of the role includes collaborating with outpatient clinic staff to ensure excellent patient customer service regarding allergies, medication reconciliation, injections, and vaccines. Additionally, the position requires benefits investigation for pharmacy-eligible prescriptions, support for FirstHealth quality initiatives, and participation in training and education on vaccines and injectable medications. The role also involves participation in the ambulatory vaccine committee.

Requirements

• Registered as a technician with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy
• Two years previous pharmacy experience required (any source)
• Extensive knowledge of third-party insurance processing is a must and specialty pharmacy adjudication

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a pharmacy technician through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred. If not upon hire, must attain within one year of hire.
• Insurance benefits investigation experience preferred.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record, possible use of Rx30 pharmacy software, and Asembia patient therapy manager a plus

Responsibilities

• Working with clinic teams and Epic using lot manager
• Working with the clinics & NCIR documentation including correction of bi-directional interface errors
• Assisting with vaccine and injectable ordering process & adding and updating lots and expirations in lot manager
• Work closely with outpatient clinic staff (providers, nurses, and office support staff) to ensure patients receive excellent customer service as it relates to allergies, medication reconciliation, injections, and vaccines
• Benefits investigation for pharmacy eligible prescriptions
• Support of FirstHealth quality initiatives patient care
• Participating in training and education on vaccines and other injectable medications for the clinics
• Participate in ambulatory vaccine committee
