The Pharmacy Technician Specialist is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including dispensing, preparing, compounding, and delivering pharmaceuticals. This role involves inventory control, compliance audits, financial transactions, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. The specialist will perform calculations, measurements, and compounding in accordance with USP and other best practice standards. They will work as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team under the direction of pharmacist leaders. The role includes performing technical pharmacy tasks such as medication history collection, specialized medication handling, compounding, and processing. Additionally, the specialist will focus on optimizing daily operations through automation, technology, and information systems management, data analysis, purchasing and inventory management (including controlled substances), 340B compliance, regulatory standards compliance, diversion monitoring and prevention, transitional care coordination, and investigational drug services. The Pharmacy Technician Specialist will serve as a role model for other team members and actively participate in onboarding and training staff. They may provide oversight to daily operations, assist with compliance activities, and support pharmacy leaders and pharmacists-in-charge. This position is designed to utilize and extend knowledge and competency in technical pharmacy functions within various pharmacy settings such as Ambulatory Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, Infusion Pharmacy, or Pharmaceutical Research Center.
