This is a full time position with varied, 10-hour shifts at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Shifts are 0700-1745, 0800-1845, 1000-2045, 1330-0012, with rotating weekends off. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • California Pharmacy Technician License
  • Certification by a national pharmacy technician certification board (CPhT) within 6 months of hire.
  • ASHP Medication History Training Program within 1 year of hire
  • Minimum 2 years' pharmacy technician experience.

  • Prior experience obtaining medication histories from patients/caregivers

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a pharmacist, obtains accurate and complete medication histories for patients admitted to the acute care facility.
  • This position supports clinical pharmacists and providers by obtaining, verifying, and documenting patients' medication histories through direct patient interviews, caregiver communication, and review of external sources such as pharmacy records and prescription databases.
  • The technician contributes to patient safety by minimizing medication discrepancies and supporting optimal pharmacotherapy decisions.
