About The Position

This job delivers medications following detailed instructions and under close supervision. Keeps track of stock levels to ensure appropriate inventory. Enters medication orders into the pharmacy system and follows up as necessary for clarification or if additional patient information is required. Administers immunizations according to CDC guidelines, under the supervision of a certified immunizing pharmacist. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of pharmacy technician experience
  • Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration by Pharmacy Technicians
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Ability to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment.
  • Demonstrated immunization administration skills through annual competency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense prescription medication orders and ensures medications are charged or credited.
  • Stocks medications and supplies with regular inspection of assigned areas.
  • Administers immunizations according to guidelines under pharmacist supervision.
  • Performs clerical and administrative tasks, including but not limited to, filing, typing, and answering phone calls.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
