This full-time position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) involves 8-hour day/evening shifts with occasional weekends, and is related to Central Warehousing Purchasing and Distribution. The Pharmacy Technician functions under the supervision of a pharmacist, providing basic prescription filling, inventory management, customer service, and basic compounding. The role may also involve assisting with other pharmacy projects, advanced dispensing, and providing backup for lead technicians and pharmacy buyers. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician or Prior healthcare experience
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician - MN Board of Pharmacy required upon hire
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required (NHA or PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board)

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Vocational or Technical Training from an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program

Responsibilities

  • Order entry into pharmacy management software
  • Fulfilment of reviewed orders
  • Final dispense according to disposition
  • Reduces audit risk through proper checks including, but not limited to, DAW, days supply, NDC validation, dates of service, discrete directions and other standard practices
  • Prepares oral extemporaneous products
  • Performs bulk compounding
  • Provides service to internal and external customers
  • Greets patients, employees and staff in a timely and courteous manner
  • Obtains needed information through direct patient contact to support prescription filling
  • Advocates for patients by searching for manufacturer and foundation copay assistance
  • Inventory Management – receipt and restock of wholesaler orders, transfer of medications to internal pharmacies
  • Medication picking in support of prescription filling
  • Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment
  • Restocks automated dispensing robots
  • Assists with returns, waste, and reporting/resolution of discrepancies
  • Complete and document quality assurance activities
  • Monitors expiration dating
  • Performs cleaning
  • Reports discrepancies or inaccuracies to pharmacist or supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned
