About The Position

BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy, a member of the Elevance Health family, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for its Purchasing department. This role is crucial for supporting effective inventory ordering and reconciliation. This is an onsite, full-time position located in Indianapolis, IN.

Requirements

  • Active, professional license, if required by state law.
  • State Pharmacy Technician Certification or National Certification based on applicable state(s) requirements to practice as a Pharmacy Technician within the scope of practice in a state or territory of the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory control and purchasing.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Facilitation skills.
  • Analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ordering drugs and supplies for the pharmacy based on established order points and directives.
  • Ensuring purchased items meet customer service demands, pharmacy operations requirements, and specified pricing models.
  • Utilizing inventory control programs and policies to achieve targeted inventory levels.
  • Reviewing inventory and purchasing needs daily to ensure an uninterrupted flow of products.
  • Communicating real-time shortages of medications or changes in stock availability and coordinating resolutions for inventory order problems (e.g., back orders, manufacturer outs).
  • Overseeing responses to and management of medication recall notifications in conjunction with the pharmacy manager.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of computerized inventory records.
  • Directing the performance of regular cycle counts to validate physical inventory against system records.
  • Investigating variances and reporting findings to management.
  • Directing periodic physical inventories in compliance with management standards.
  • Entering completed count sheets into the database and investigating discrepancies.
  • Working with accounting to resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Developing and fostering working relationships with wholesalers to collaborate, resolve issues, and optimize the inventory ordering process.
  • Developing and optimizing program reports detailing volume, profitability, pricing, and other necessary metrics.
  • Consistently improving the overall efficiency and optimal operation of the inventory ordering process.
