About The Position

Walgreens Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technician Apprentices work in a patient-centric pharmacy environment, interacting with customers and developing patient relationships. The apprenticeship is an “earn while you learn” training program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor. It provides foundational and advanced learning, activities, resources, and on-the-job experience to prepare participants to become Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technicians and maintain the skills required in pharmacy care. The program offers an entry point to a health care career and a nationally recognized, portable credential. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies, the technician assists in the practice of pharmacy and performs other Pharmacy Department duties. The role uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. It also includes customer service, cash register duties, workflow support, inventory activities, clerical work, and assistance with clinical services when required. PTCB-certified technicians may also coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in operating pharmacy systems and pharmacy cash registers. The position requires a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours. Walgreens will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Compensation depends on factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant factors. The role remains open until filled.
