About The Position

Walgreens Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Technician Apprentice roles are patient-centric positions focused on customer interaction and building patient relationships. The apprenticeship offers an entry point into health care through Walgreens’ earn-while-you-learn training program, recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor. Training includes courses, learning activities, resources, and on-the-job experience designed to build foundational and advanced pharmacy technician skills and prepare apprentices to earn a nationally recognized PTCB certification. Under the pharmacist’s direct supervision and in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies, the technician assists with pharmacy practice and department duties. The role uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and medication information and process prescriptions, while delivering a distinctive customer experience. PTCB-certified technicians may also assist and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy systems and register operations. The position may include customer service, prescription processing, pharmacy workflow, inventory, clerical work, clinical-service support, and pharmacy upkeep.
