About The Position

Walgreens Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technician Apprentices work in a patient-centric pharmacy environment, interacting with customers and building patient relationships. Walgreens provides an “earn while you learn” Pharmacy Technician Training Program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor. The program offers courses, learning activities, resources, and on-the-job experience to develop foundational and advanced pharmacy skills and prepare apprentices to become Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified. The program provides a nationally recognized, portable credential and supports career development. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations and company policies, the technician assists in pharmacy practice and department operations. The role uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions, while delivering a distinctive customer experience. PTCB-certified technicians may also assist with and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in using pharmacy systems and pharmacy registers. The technician earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or any state-required certification or registration. Otherwise, PTCB certification is required as a condition of promotion to senior technician. The role attends requested training, earns continuing education credits, and maintains current pharmacy and healthcare knowledge.
