Walgreens Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technician Apprentices work in a patient-centric pharmacy environment, interacting with customers and developing patient relationships. Walgreens provides an earn-while-you-learn training program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor, designed to build foundational and advanced pharmacy knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experience. The program supports candidates in working toward Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and a nationally recognized, portable credential. Under the pharmacist's direct supervision and in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policy, the role assists with pharmacy practice and department duties. Technicians use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions, support prescription dispensing, provide customer service, help maintain workflow and inventory, and assist with clinical services as required. PTCB-certified technicians may also coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy systems and register operations. The role requires fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English, except in Puerto Rico, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend hours. Walgreens prefers six months of retail experience, prior Walgreens experience, good math and computer skills, knowledge of store inventory control, and PTCB certification. The position remains open until filled. Compensation depends on factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant factors.
