As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will support pharmacists in providing pharmacy services. The technician is responsible for packaging, preparation and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. You will do so much more than count prescriptions and ring out patients. You will make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers. A caregiver in this role work day shift as needed from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Licensed in Ohio as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP)
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) upon or within 18 months of hire
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Six months of hospital experience
  • IV or compounding experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
  • Prep of IV for chemotherapy.
