About The Position

Adventist Rehabilitation - Rockville is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician Lead for their Rehab Pharmacy Department. This role involves operating and troubleshooting pharmacy automation, assisting with reports, supporting technology implementations, and coordinating automation installations. The lead will also participate in training new technicians, monitoring data for performance improvement, prepacking medications, refilling crash carts and automated dispensing machines, and compounding IV medications using sterile techniques according to USP 797 and USP 800 standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • At least three years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician II (or equivalent) in a hospital pharmacy with advanced training or experience in automated distribution systems and pharmacy operations.
  • Licensure as Pharmacy Technician by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science, Arts, or Associate’s degree in a healthcare related field preferred or graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Properly operate and assist the facility pharmacy leaders and system pharmacy informatics team with troubleshooting and monitoring pharmacy automation and operations.
  • Assist with applicable reports generated from automated or manual systems as required.
  • Provide facility support in the implementation, installation, maintenance and updating of technology systems related to pharmacy distribution in collaboration with system pharmacy informatics team.
  • Work collaboratively with facility pharmacy leaders and system pharmacy informatics team to assist with coordinating moving of automated dispensing machines and other automation installations as applicable.
  • Participate in the training of new pharmacy technicians and on any new processes/workflows.
  • In collaboration with facility pharmacy leaders and system pharmacy informatics team, may collect, monitor, and evaluate data to provide an analysis of results and assists with recommendations for performance improvement initiatives.
  • Prepack medications, refills crash carts, fills first doses, and refills automated dispensing machines with patient safety at the forefront and ensuring accuracy.
  • Compound IV medications utilizing proper sterile technique following USP 797 and USP 800 standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
