About The Position

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system that provides care to a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. TMH is the region's healthcare leader and top provider of advanced care with a 772-bed acute care hospital and the region's only Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, and Pediatric Intensive Care. TMH's system includes a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, six residency programs, and more than 50 affiliated physician practices. This role is for the Overnight position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy (FLBOP) approved pharmacy technician training program
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Three (3) years of pharmacy experience
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • FLBOP registration in accordance with Florida Statutes, Title XXXII (Regulations of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 465 (Pharmacy), Section 014 (Pharmacy Technician)

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Director/Pharmacy, Supervisor/Pharmacy, or a Pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and the intravenous admixture program.
  • Maintains confidential reports.
  • Enters and retrieves data utilizing the computer system.
  • Prepares intravenous medications (IV) (e.g., chemotherapeutic preparations, hyper alimentations, and antibiotics).
  • Fills automated medication dispensing systems with a supply of unit dose medications.
  • Procures and fills requests for pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Delivers supplies to patient care areas.
  • Manages pharmacy automation.
  • Engages in specialized departmental activities (e.g., documenting medication histories, chemotherapy IV compounding, preparing sterile IV medications, inventorying narcotics, or maintaining pharmacy inventory).
  • Assists in training/educating lower-level pharmacy technicians.
