About The Position
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system that provides care to a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. TMH is the region's healthcare leader and top provider of advanced care with a 772-bed acute care hospital and the region's only Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, and Pediatric Intensive Care. The system also offers the most advanced cancer, heart and vascular, orthopedic & surgery programs in the Panhandle. TMH's system includes a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, six residency programs, and more than 50 affiliated physician practices. This role is for the Overnight position.
Requirements
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy (FLBOP) approved pharmacy technician training program
- At least 18 years of age
- Three (3) years of pharmacy experience
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- FLBOP registration in accordance with Florida Statutes, Title XXXII (Regulations of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 465 (Pharmacy), Section 014 (Pharmacy Technician)
Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of the Director/Pharmacy, Supervisor/Pharmacy, or a Pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and the intravenous admixture program.
- Maintains confidential reports.
- Enters and retrieves data utilizing the computer system.
- Prepares intravenous medications (IV) (e.g., chemotherapeutic preparations, hyper alimentations, and antibiotics).
- Fills automated medication dispensing systems with a supply of unit dose medications.
- Procures and fills requests for pharmaceutical supplies.
- Delivers supplies to patient care areas.
- Manages pharmacy automation.
- Engages in specialized departmental activities (e.g., documenting medication histories, chemotherapy IV compounding, preparing sterile IV medications, inventorying narcotics, or maintaining pharmacy inventory).
- Assists in training/educating lower-level pharmacy technicians.
