About The Position

The employee in this position must demonstrate special skills, knowledge, and task completion not required by the other pharmacy technicians. The programs to be coordinated and monitored include, but are not limited to, MAP (Medication Assistance Program), retail drug PAPs (free drug), prior authorizations, and Medicare assistance/enrollment. This position will support operations ensuring patients receive the lowest out-of-pocket expense possible utilizing assistance from various programs, PBMs, and manufacturers. This includes, but is not limited to, researching data, connecting patients with appropriate assistance, assisting in applications, processing prescriptions, and communicating with billing and patient follow-up. Additionally, the Pharmacy Technician will work directly with a clinical pharmacy specialist to coordinate operational tasks within the clinic(s), including, but not limited to, obtaining information and coordination of care with external facilities and aiding in transitions of care. The Pharmacy Technician IV will work with pharmacy leadership to maintain and improve program workflows, expansion, and compliance. In addition to these duties, they may perform the duties of the Pharmacy Technician I/II/III, including assisting the pharmacists in day-to-day operations, patient outreach, and other facets of patient care. The Pharmacy Technician IV will prioritize work based on immediate need and changing workload. They will work as a team member to perform day-to-day work efficiently and accurately, along with any additional tasks or projects to help achieve departmental goals.

Requirements

HS/GED plus 4 yrs Pharmacy Tech Experience (i.e., previous lead technician in a sterile compounding setting, etc.) or a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences
1 year to obtain ASHP/ACPE accredited technician training or certificate program
National Technician Certification (PTCB)
Arkansas Pharmacy Technician Licensure
Within one year of start date, will complete a specialized certificate program in sterile compounding (i.e., ASHP or PTCB)
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

B.S. or higher degree
ASHP/ACPE accredited technician training
Previous sterile compounding experience, hazardous drug handling, etc.
Previous management or team leader experience
Specialized certificate or certification (i.e., PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician, ASHP Sterile Compounding Certificate, 340B Certification, etc.)

Responsibilities

Oversees day-to-day pharmacy operations, including entering prescription orders, operating the point-of-sale system, and providing customer service.
Supervises pharmacy staff, including technicians, volunteers, and students.
Hires, trains, evaluates, and administers human resources functions for direct reports.
Provides patient support by conducting bedside deliveries and preparing intravenous medications as needed.
Collaborates with department leadership to support initiatives including planning for future programs and services, patient and staff safety, and operational improvements.
Manages the controlled substance storage and distribution program in compliance with all federal and state laws regarding controlled substances.
Performs other duties as needed.
