About The Position

The IV Admixture Technician prepares parenteral chemotherapy admixtures, manages inventory and maintains detailed documentation in compliance with established procedures as well as federal and state regulations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in compounding IV admixtures including IV chemotherapy and other hazardous drugs
  • Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of medications and medical supplies
  • Strong mathematical computation skills
  • Great attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation of medications and supplies for distribution including: chemotherapeutic agents, non-chemotherapy IV mixtures and large – volume intravenous mixtures
  • Properly dispose of materials used when mixing chemo and non-chemo IV’s
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
  • Check for outdated items
  • Maintain clean admixture environment per state and federal regulations and DPN policies and procedures
  • Follow all health care privacy and safety rules and adheres to Dayton Physicians Core Values
  • Other duties as assigned
