The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient, Dayshift supports daily inpatient pharmacy operations as part of a collaborative team of approximately 13 pharmacy technicians and 8 pharmacists. Caregivers rotate through a variety of core pharmacy functions, including Pyxis replenishment, inventory management, virtual carousel operations, receiving medication orders, IV room support, and non-sterile compounding. This role provides broad exposure to inpatient pharmacy operations and the opportunity to work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare team members to ensure medications are prepared, managed, and delivered safely and efficiently. A caregiver in this role will rotate through 8 hours shifts from 6:00am to 6:15pm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
  • In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
  • Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of hospital experience
  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program
  • Prior inpatient experience
  • Prior IV experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
