This Pharmacy Technician supports a high-volume inpatient pharmacy, filling approximately 370–450 medications per day. The role collaborates closely with pharmacy leadership, nurses, and a team of 24 technicians within a family-oriented, fast-paced environment. Technicians may be scheduled across three areas: Triage Shift, managing nursing requests, inventory, and task completion; Carousel Shift, supporting IV room operations, batching, and pyxis deliveries; and Night Shift, working independently with minimal staffing. This position offers valuable experience in inpatient pharmacy operations, teamwork, and patient-centered medication support. A caregiver in this position will work a day/evening rotation from 6:00am to 2:00pm or 3:00pm to 11:30pm with occasional midnights for coverage. Further scheduling requirements include every other weekend and every other holiday.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)
  • Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
  • It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
