The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient, PRN supports a high-volume pharmacy at Main Campus (H building), serving a wide range of service lines including general inpatient, oncology, sterile products, operating room, and pediatrics. This role involves rotating through multiple pharmacy areas while performing daily responsibilities such as medication delivery across the hospital, carousel operations, and triaging requests (including phone and MAR message management). The position is fast-paced and highly active, with significant collaboration across departments, and offers opportunities for cross-training and advancement into specialized areas such as IV, ambulatory, specialty pharmacy, or homecare based on competency and department needs. A caregiver in this position works variable hours between 6:45am to 3:15pm or 2:00pm to 10:30pm (3 weeks of days and one week of 2nd or straight seconds). Further requirements include every third weekend.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
  • Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) within 18 months from the date of hire.
  • Must obtain Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 18 months from the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the Registered Pharmacist.
  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.
  • Fill medications carts daily.
  • Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the pharmacy department.
  • Repackage bulk medications.
