The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient, PRN supports a smaller-volume inpatient pharmacy within a 90-bed hospital environment. Located in the hospital basement, this role works across multiple pharmacy functions including manual carousel operations, sterile compounding, Pyxis support, and medication distribution for areas such as the ED, ICU/Step Down, and outpatient infusion services. Technicians are cross-trained in both hazardous and non-hazardous compounding and rotate through all operational areas, providing broad inpatient pharmacy experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. A caregiver in this role will work PRN hours as needed between 6:00am and 2:30pm, 7:00am and 3:30pm, 9:00am and 5:30pm, 12:30pm and 9:00pm and will ask for night shift coverage from 9:00pm and 7:00am.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
  • A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role.
  • Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) within 18 months from the date of hire.
  • Must obtain Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 18 months from the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Six months of hospital experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the Registered Pharmacist.
  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.
  • Fill medications carts daily.
  • Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the pharmacy department.
  • Repackage bulk medications.
