The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient, PRN supports pharmacy operations at Hillcrest Hospital and Mentor campus, serving a large inpatient population across a wide range of specialty and critical care service lines. This role includes cross-training across multiple pharmacy functions such as medication preparation and delivery, carousel retrieval, IV room support, sterile compounding preparation, inventory management, and medication calculations, including neonatal dosing. Working in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment, technicians play a vital role in ensuring medications are delivered safely, accurately, and efficiently to support patient care. This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work as needed from 7:00am to 3:30pm or 3:30pm to 11:30pm. Minimum 4-6 shifts per month with every other week availability required. 2 on-call expectations per year with rotating weekend support.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
  • A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role.
  • Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) within 18 months from the date of hire.
  • Must obtain Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 18 months from the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the Registered Pharmacist.
  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.
  • Fill medications carts daily.
  • Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the pharmacy department.
  • Repackage bulk medications.
