About The Position

Advanced Infusion Care (AIC) is seeking a customer service-oriented and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join their team. This role involves practicing pharmacy in a patient-centric environment as an integral part of a clinical team, focusing on caring for infusion patients. AIC, a branch of AIS Healthcare, is a leading provider of Targeted Drug Delivery (TDD) and Infusion Care, committed to advancing quality and improving lives through innovative products and services. The Pharmacy Technician will assist with compounding sterile preparations, assembling patient supplies and equipment, and supporting quality control and pharmacy maintenance under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Requirements

  • Must pass all pharmacy and sterile compounding competencies within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent is required.
  • Registration with the practicing state's Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire is required.
  • Completion of pharmacy technician training and certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Pharmacy Technician Association, required, with certification to be completed within 12 months of employment.
  • Laboratory or healthcare experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Recognizes patients' rights and responsibilities and supports them in the performance of job duties; respects patient's rights to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Prepares, packages, and distributes medications prescribed by physicians.
  • Prepares and dispenses Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPNs) and prescription IV drug therapy and supplies for home infusion patients in an accurate and timely fashion in accordance with all legal requirements.
  • Ensures sterile and precise preparations of hazardous and non-hazardous IV drug therapy to promote health and safety of patients and to prevent exposure of hazardous chemicals to employees.
  • Continually maintains IV room and surrounding pharmacy area to ensure a clean, well-stocked condition.
  • Maintains "staging" area to set up drug and supply orders for preparation by staff in the clean room.
  • Sets up TPN Compounder prior to use.
  • Calibrates pumps daily for base solutions.
  • Accurately compounds and checks compounded sterile products.
  • Obtains, interprets, and evaluates all physician medication orders.
  • Verifies accuracy of dispensing, medical, and laboratory data.
  • Assists with labeling to complete IV therapy work orders.
  • Accurately maintains all legally required records.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Participates in patient evaluations.
  • Assists the supervisor in training of new staff and provides appropriate feedback as necessary.
  • Assists pharmacists, physicians, nursing, and clinical personnel with pharmacy services.
  • Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
  • Follows and assists in inventory control procedures.
  • Completes paperwork and computer related duties.
  • Shares knowledge gained with other staff members and works as a team member.
  • Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
