About The Position

BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to join their team. This role is responsible for interpreting and entering complex prescriptions, processing prior authorizations, and troubleshooting adjudication issues. The Pharmacy Technician III will review requests via mail, telephone, or electronically, respond to inquiries, and determine the most effective course of action. This position is an onsite role requiring full-time presence at the Carpinteria, CA location to foster collaboration and teamwork. Requirements

  • Requires H.S. diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy experience.
  • Requires an active, valid, current and unrestricted state Pharmacy Technician license or national license based on applicable state(s) requirements to practice as a Pharmacy Technician within the scope of practice in a state or territory of the United States.
  • Multi-state certification is required if this individual is providing services in multiple states.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.
  • For URAC accredited areas, strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving skills, facilitation skills, and analytical skills are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies member and provider information and inputs data for pharmacists and clinicians.
  • Processes prior authorization requests from physicians’ offices, ensuring compliance with Medicaid, Commercial, and Medicare requirements, and informing relevant parties of determinations.
  • Manages inbound and outbound communications, triages and problem-solves pharmacy inquiries, ensures patient and prescriber communication is completed, and resolves open cases.
  • Manages prescription queue workflow.
  • Supports lower-level pharmacy technicians with more complex inquiries.
  • Provides resolution to grievances and appeals issues.
  • Responds to inquiries from physicians, sales teams, and members regarding formulary and prescription benefits.
  • Manages escalations and analyzes data and results of process improvements.
  • Generates reports related to necessary data for the department and ad hoc reports.
  • Works in applicable queues, supporting clinicians and operations leadership with inbound requests across all lines of business.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in all respective areas and lines of business.
  • Maintains knowledge of new tasks to ensure continued education and support.
  • Mentors and trains lower-level pharmacy technicians.
