About The Position

Assists pharmacists in the procurement, preparation, dispensing and monitoring of prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals according to professional and regulatory standards and practices. The pharmacy is responsible for the purchasing, storage, preparation, distribution and control of all drugs used in the hospital. In addition, pharmacists, assisted by pharmacy technicians, are responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients by assuring safe and effective drug therapy.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Competent math skills
• Typing skills
• Manual dexterity
• 3-4 years Healthcare Pharmacy Tech experience preferred
• Working knowledge of drug names
• Computer skills required
• Registered by the State of Vermont
• PTCB Certification
• Proficiency in use of office equipment, computer, telephone, copier, telefax
• Use of Laminar flow hood, biological safety cabinet and barrio isolator
• Corrected vision to normal range
• Ability to work under stressful conditions
• Some exposure to hazardous products
• Close Vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
• Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
• Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
• Ability to hear calls
• Ability to hear instructions from physician/department staff/others

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with Pyxis (or a similar automatic dispensing cabinet and MAK (computerized medication administration)
