About The Position

Processes prescriptions, assists with insurance billing, manages refill requests, prepares medications, and supports patient service operations. Coordinates prescription delivery and mail services to improve medication access and continuity of care. Greets patients, processes transactions, answers phone calls, and supports efficient patient service within the pharmacy.

Requirements

High School Diploma
IL Pharmacy Technician License
Certified Pharmacy technician
Candidates who are not yet licensed or certified will be hired as a Pharmacy Technician I, and compensation will align with the Pharmacy Technician I pay range.
High School (Required)
Certified Pharmacy Technician (within 2 years of license) or Pharmacist Student Certificate - National Healthcareer Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (within 60 days of hire) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation

Responsibilities

Answers the door and telephone. Assists customers with inquiries, questions and concerns.
Checks pharmacy stock for drugs that need to be reordered or labeled. Restocks IV room supplies and ER take home medication for Pyxis drawer.
Completes General Employee Orientation, On-Line Interactive Education (OLIE), and All other Competency assessments related to the position of Pharmacy Technician.
Is USP-797 Compliant: Including weekly IV samples, Monthly clean room samples and maintenance of clean room.
Maintains a clean and uncluttered work environment.
Makes required entries into ALL Pharmacy Technician Accountability Logs.
Makes scheduled runs to the floor in a timely manner.
Monitors assigned section for outdated drugs. (Both in pharmacy and Assigned Nursing Station).
Obtain and maintain Illinois Pharm Tech Certification within 2 years of hire. (Exception: Pharmacist Students are not required by the state of IL to obtain Certification)
Obtain and maintain Illinois Pharm Tech Licensure within 60 days of hire.
Packages unit dose medications, makes medication bar code flags. Credits returned medications and re-shelves it in the proper location.
Performs daily duties supporting clinical efforts including IV to Oral report, Pneumonia Vaccine, Coumadin log, etc.
Prepares chemotherapy and T.P.N. orders.
Prints batch labels as needed (i.e., irrigation, ER-home, etc.)
Processes charges and credits of medications as appropriate.
Processes departmental paperwork as needed.
Processes IV orders. Prepares IVs using the proper aseptic technique.
Processes medication orders accurately and in a timely manner. Files processed orders upon completion.
Reconciles returned anesthesia narcotics.
Restocks Pharmacy Crash Cart Boxes when received from Central Sterile.
Restocks Pyxis units using the PARX system. Delivers meds to Pyxis units.
