Pharmacy Technician II- Third Shift 8 days on/6 days off
About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician II assists the pharmacist with the preparation of medications for dispensing. The technician performs various technical and supportive tasks necessary to provide pharmacy services. The pharmacy technician II works under supervision of the pharmacist, and focuses on accurate medication preparation following established policy and procedures set forth by the Pharmacy Department. This role meets the requirements of being a qualified pharmacy technician as established by the State Board of Pharmacy and holds a Certified Pharmacy Technician license from a State Board of Pharmacy accredited agency. The technician complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration, along with other regulatory agencies. The pharmacy technician II has mastered job duties and responsibilities and takes active part in training technicians and quality improvement projects.
Requirements
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy
- Meets requirements of a qualified pharmacy technician as established by the State Board of Pharmacy.
- Holds a Certified Pharmacy Technician license from a State Board of Pharmacy accredited agency.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws.
- Works under supervision of the pharmacist.
- Understands technician role vs pharmacist role and adheres to regulations established by the State Board of Pharmacy.
- Works cooperatively with other technicians and pharmacists.
- Has mastered job duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Assists the pharmacist with medication preparation.
- Answers the phone promptly and directs callers.
- Maintains the integrity of pharmaceutical products.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
- Accurately prepares and distributes patient medications.
- Performs various technical and supportive tasks necessary to provide pharmacy services.
- Sorts, stocks, and labels medications and monitors inventory.
- Assists in expired drug processes and procedures.
- Participates in departmental quality improvement projects.
- Adheres to safety practices to ensure quality patient care.
- Maintains biannual and annual competencies for USP guidelines.
- Shows familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.
- Supports management with new initiatives.
- Encourages and motivates other pharmacy team members.
- Masters job duties and responsibilities and takes an active part in training and quality improvement projects.
