About The Position
Carilion Clinic is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II specializing in Medication History. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate medication lists for admitted patients, which aids providers in clinical decision-making. The technician will work collaboratively with other medication history technicians and receive peripheral oversight from a medication history pharmacist. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, strong communication skills, attention to detail, baseline medication knowledge, an inquisitive mind, and a drive to succeed. This position is part of an expanding program aimed at positively impacting more patients, and Carilion is looking for dedicated technicians interested in a career in medication history. Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 1 to 2 years of pharmacy experience required.
- Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required.
- Pharmacy Technician Certified Board Certification relevant to work area is required within 6 months of hire.
- Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail/accuracy.
- Must be customer service oriented.
- Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard.
- Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment.
- Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
Nice To Haves
- Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.
- MUST HAVE OR BE READY TO OBTAIN VA REGISTRY
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the completion of a Best Possible Medication History (BPMH) for every admitted patient.
- Work alongside medication history technician colleagues.
- Maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications.
- Solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment.
- Effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
