About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, the PRN Pharmacy Technician I will assist and support the pharmacist in the day-to-day dispensing operation of patient care. The dispensing operation includes gathering the appropriate medication, researching data in the EPIC computer system, compounding medications, maintaining appropriate and adequate stock in all pharmacy areas, and other duties related to dispensing medication to the patient. The PRN Pharmacy Technician I will prioritize work based on immediate need and rapidly changing workload. The PRN Pharmacy Technician will work as a team member to efficiently, accurately perform day-to-day work along with any additional tasks or projects to help achieve departmental goals. The PRN Pharmacy Technician I will assist the Technician I, Technician II, and Technician III as it relates to day-to-day dispensing functions, task, and job duties to provide timely and efficient patient service. They will assist with prioritizing day-to-day workflow and immediate need.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Pharmacy technician license from the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy

  • One year of Pharmacy Technician experience

Responsibilities

  • Accurately filling orders by selecting the correct medication, dosage form, strength, and quantity.
  • May also prepare compounded medication.
  • Understands Pyxis and handles stockouts and routine replenishment.
  • Completes cart fill in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Returns stock to the shelves when appropriate, ensures returned refrigerated items are returned to refrigeration in a timely manner.
  • Completes all duties/responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Answer and triage phone calls in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Adhere to pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain proper handling of controlled substances.
  • Work to provide excellent pharmacy services to assists in achieving departmental goals.
  • Participates in education and training of students, residents, and new employees.
  • Works well as part of a team and with all shifts.
  • Displays a positive attitude that contributes to the overall morale of the inpatient pharmacy team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
