About The Position

Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. The Pharmacy Technician I report to the Pharmacy Manager. Under general supervision, the Pharmacy Technician I support the drug distribution activities of the Department of Pharmacy Services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP)
  • Must complete the PTCB board certification exam and pass within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing. (Continuous)

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders. (Continuous)
  • Ability to fully use both legs. (Continuous)
  • Ability to use lower extremities for balance and coordination. (Frequent)
  • Ability to reach in all directions. (Continuous)
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted. (Infrequent)
  • Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to 36 inches unassisted. (Infrequent)
  • Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. (Infrequent)
  • Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent)

  • If the Technician I care team member has not attained PTCB certification within one year of employment (during the probationary period) they will be separated from service.
