About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation, delivery, and storage of medications. This role ensures the accuracy of their own work and maintains required competencies and documentation, adhering to departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards. The technician is expected to engage in ongoing professional development, lead by example, perpetuate accountability, and manage their time effectively. They will communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships, and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors. Additionally, the Pharmacy Technician I will train new employees on routine tasks under the direction of designated personnel and share responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs and discovering new process efficiencies.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • No experience is required
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire is required
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra.
  • The ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Other IV Certification is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation.
  • Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards, programs, and initiatives.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors.
  • Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
  • Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
