The Pharmacy Technician I role at Levine Cancer Institute, Carolinas Medical Center, assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to medication preparation and distribution. This full-time position involves accurately preparing and labeling medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances, and assisting with medication distribution tasks. The role also includes screening phone calls, managing pharmacy procurement and inventory, completing documentation for controlled substances, performing nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture following USP standards and aseptic technique, inspecting medication storage areas, and documenting medication admission histories. Adherence to all organizational policies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards is required, along with supporting area leaders. Responsibilities extend to obtaining patient information, data entry into the pharmacy system, insurance verification, label generation, cashiering, and developing competence in third-party billing functions. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of patients served and may involve obtaining immunization certification to perform immunizations under pharmacist supervision. Additionally, the position may require operating an Advocate Health-owned vehicle for medication and supply delivery.
