Pharmacy Technician I Atrium Health HealthQuest of Union County Medication Assistance Program
About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician I position is part of the Atrium Health HealthQuest of Union County Medication Assistance Program. This full-time role is primarily located in Monroe, NC, but will require one day per week in Wadesboro, NC. The position involves developing competence in dispensing and delivery of medications, utilizing information systems, technology, and automation. Responsibilities include preparing non-sterile products, entering medication orders, managing phone calls, and adhering to pharmacy procedures and documentation requirements, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards such as controlled substance procedures, USP procedures, and DNV requirements.
Requirements
- High School Graduate.
- No experience required.
- Strong foundation in computer skills, as the role requires regular use of digital tools and platforms.
- Good mathematics skills.
- Attention to details.
- Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- self-driven, takes initiative, and can operate effectively without constant direct supervision.

- The ideal candidate will be proactive, personable, and committed to contributing to the long-term success of the program.
- Licensure (IL only): State of Wisconsin (registration): Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student; Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire, or sooner if required by law. Must sit for the certification exam at least one time within the first year of employment.
- Patient facing teammates may be required to have three certifications: Immunization, BLS through an entity approved by Advocate Health and non-vaccine injectable to be granted from the state of WI or if from out of state, the program is approved by the accreditation council for pharmacy education (ACPE) or by the WI pharmacy examining board.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in pharmacy or nonprofit organizations would be beneficial.
- Prior Customer service, multitasking, ability to adapt and shift priorities, time management, fluency in both English and Spanish would be a plus
Responsibilities
- Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications.
- Develops competence in the department’s use of information systems, technology, and automation used for dispensing and storage of medications.
- Develops competence in preparing non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations, as required.
- Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and/or processing medication requests via the computer system.
- Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members such as nurses, physicians or patients.
- Complies with legal, regulatory, accreditation standards. This includes (but is not limited to) controlled substance procedures, USP procedures and DNV requirements.
