Pharmacy Technician I
About The Position
Lumicera Health Services is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I to join their team. Under the direction of the Pharmacist-in-Charge and other pharmacists, this role is primarily responsible for assisting pharmacists in obtaining necessary information for dispensing and adjudicating medications correctly. Key responsibilities include answering phone calls, contacting doctors and patients via various communication methods, accurately translating prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing software, and potentially selecting medications, labeling, and packaging prescriptions for pharmacist review. The role also involves obtaining and verifying patient information such as demographics, allergies, medication history, comorbidities, and payer information. This position will also assist in other technician-related duties within the facility as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent preferred.
- National CPhT and/or registration/licensure required per employee’s residing state’s requirements
- Minimum two years pharmacy support experience or healthcare environment experience preferred
- Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives
- The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
Responsibilities
- Responsible for answering the inbound calls from patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals
- Responsible for contacting doctors to obtain necessary prescription information to properly fill a prescription
- Responsible for managing the queues and working oldest orders first
- Responsible for the correct shipment of the specialty pharmacy orders
- May be responsible for ensuring adequate inventory of pharmaceuticals in the pharmacy, including ordering, receipt, verification of orders, and stocking of pharmaceuticals and supplies
