About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician retrieves, packages and labels oral solid, liquid, topical, rectal, injectable and premixed IV medications, handles phone calls, computer communications, medication delivery, automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) stocking, unit dose packaging, medication storage area inspection, and provides customer service. The Pharmacy Technician may also compound non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous medications. This position is ECB status, requiring a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department, with limited benefit offerings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • State of Oklahoma Pharmacy Board Technician License in good standing.
  • 0 - 6 months experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy or successful completion of Pharmacy Technician program.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy computer software including medication reordering, ADCs, unit-dose packaging, and pharmacy inventory retrieval systems.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to type or perform data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Returns medication to the pharmacy.
  • Stocks medication kits, boxes, and trays.
  • Uses bar code technology for various processes.
  • Answers incoming calls and directs callers.
  • Monitors incoming computer messages.
