This is a PRN (as needed) position with a variable schedule, requiring work every other weekend on the 1st Shift (0600-1430 and 0800-1630) at the Winston Campus. The Pharmacy Technician I assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to medication preparation and distribution, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. Responsibilities also include medication distribution tasks, screening phone calls, assisting with pharmacy procurement and inventory control, performing nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture (where applicable), inspecting medication storage areas, documenting medication admission histories, and performing other duties as assigned. The role may involve quality improvement initiatives, training other technicians, and supporting area leaders. Additional duties include obtaining patient information, data entry, insurance verification, label generation, cashiering, and potentially developing competence in third-party billing functions. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate patient care and may involve obtaining immunization certification and performing immunizations under supervision. Operating an Advocate Health-owned vehicle for medication delivery may also be required.
