About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I role is a part-time position within the Pharmacy Department at Texas Health Dallas. This role involves the timely and accurate preparation, delivery, and storage of medications, utilizing technology where appropriate. The position requires ensuring the accuracy of one's own work, maintaining required competencies and documentation, and adhering to departmental quality improvement and patient safety standards. Technicians are expected to engage in ongoing professional development, lead by example, perpetuate accountability, and manage their time effectively. They will communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships, and role model teamwork. Training new employees on routine tasks under the direction of designated personnel is also a responsibility. Additionally, technicians share responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs and discovering process efficiencies.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • No experience is required
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire is required
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra.
  • The ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Other IV Certification is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation.
  • Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards, programs, and initiatives.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors.
  • Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
