The Pharmacy Technician retrieves, packages and labels oral solid, liquid, topical, rectal, injectable and premixed IV medications, handles phone calls, computer communications, medication delivery, automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) stocking, unit dose packaging, medication storage area inspection, and provides customer service. The Pharmacy Technician may compound non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous medications. This role involves independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established. The position works directly with patients and/or customers, and with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction, as well as with other healthcare professionals and staff. This position leads others in the same work performed but does not supervise.
