About The Position

BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy, a proud member of the Elevance Health family of companies, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I for its Fulfillment team. The Pharmacy Technician I, Fulfillment role is responsible for preparing and labeling prescriptions, including counting, weighing, measuring, and pouring medications, and filling automated medication systems. This position requires adherence to all legal requirements for prescription preparation and verification by a Pharmacist, as well as maintaining compliance with State Board of Pharmacy and federal regulations. The role involves communication with prescribers, customers, and other staff to complete prescriptions, assisting the Pharmacist in dispensing, and ensuring customer pharmaceutical needs are met. Responsibilities also include answering phones, verifying data entry, maintaining prescription records, managing medication inventory for expired products, and ensuring a clean and safe pharmacy environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy environment.
  • Valid Registered Pharmacy Technician required.

Nice To Haves

  • CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician).
  • Experience in a dispensing pharmacy setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and labeling prescriptions.
  • Counting, weighing, measuring, and pouring prescription medication or stock legend drugs and controlled substances.
  • Filling of an automated medication system.
  • Utilizing the pharmacy's adjudication platform to enter required information for legal requirements of prescription verification by a Pharmacist.
  • Maintaining compliance with regulations from applicable State Board of Pharmacy, local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Communicating with prescribers, customers, other staff, and any other entity required to complete a prescription.
  • Assisting the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
  • Arranging work activities to meet the pharmaceutical needs of customers.
  • Answering phones, responding to questions and requests, or referring them to appropriate staff for medication information.
  • Verifying data entry information.
  • Maintaining records by recording and filling physicians' orders and prescriptions.
  • Checking medications and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products.
  • Removing out-of-date products from inventory and working with the appropriate resource to record them.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
