About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician CPhT position at Ohio County Hospital is responsible for supporting the Director of Pharmacy in essential pharmacy operations. This role involves compounding sterile and non-sterile products, managing inventory, restocking automated dispensing cabinets, and delivering medications throughout the hospital. The technician will also be responsible for checking for expired or recalled medications, maintaining medication logs, and ensuring appropriate medication storage. Compliance with all hospital policies, regulatory standards, and ethical conduct is expected.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be CPhT or be willing and able to become certified within 180 days from date of employment
  • Working Knowledge of KY BOP Regulations
  • Working Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Machines
  • Working Knowledge of Compounding Regulations
  • Basic understanding of medication management

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year pharmacy tech experience, preferably in hospital setting
  • Experience with Omnicell
  • Experience with compounding

Responsibilities

  • Compound sterile and non-sterile products; complete compounding logs; clean compounding areas; complete all requirements for compounding as outlined in the pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Restock automated dispensing cabinets, surgery trays, crash carts, anesthesia lock boxes, etc.
  • Label and deliver all patient care medications throughout the hospital
  • Check for outdates throughout the organization and remove damaged, expired or recall stock to quarantined area until proper disposal can be done; dispose of medication waste per pharmacy policy
  • Maintain inventory and rotate stock; put up medication orders and ensure medication storage is appropriate according to manufacturer guidelines or organizational policy
  • Unit dose and bar code scan medications when necessary
  • Fill and prepare for pickup clinic medication orders
  • Resolve Omnicell discrepancies and complete necessary controlled medication logs
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and logs
