The Pharmacy Technician – Community supports outpatient pharmacy operations at Marymount Hospital’s Medical Office Building pharmacy. This role includes data entry, prescription filling, and rotating cashier responsibilities while working in a collaborative team environment focused on delivering excellent patient service and achieving shared operational goals. A caregiver in this position works 40 hours per week on rotating shifts between 8:00am and 4:00pm or 10:00am and 6:00pm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
  • A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role.
  • Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 18 months from the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of hospital experience
  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program
  • Prior outpatient experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
  • Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
