The Pharmacy Technician – Community supports a high-volume outpatient pharmacy located on the second floor of the Crile Building, processing approximately 500–800 prescriptions each day. In this role, caregivers rotate through a variety of pharmacy workflows, including assisting patients at the register, preparing and filling prescriptions, managing inventory, and supporting daily pharmacy operations. Working closely with pharmacists and fellow technicians, this caregiver helps ensure accurate medication dispensing, efficient workflow, and exceptional customer service while contributing to a positive patient experience in a fast-paced community pharmacy setting. A caregiver in this position will work a full-time schedule of either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, between 7:30am and 6:15pm. Caregivers participate in a weekend rotation at the Euclid Avenue Pharmacy, averaging 7–8 weekend shifts per year, with incentive pay available for weekend coverage.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR the National HealthCareer Association (NHA)
  • Must hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
  • If certified but current status with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) is Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee it is required to update registration status to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire.
  • A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
  • Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
