About The Position

Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center (SPRHC) is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations and provide high-quality service to patients and healthcare professionals. The Certified Pharmacy Technician focuses on customer needs related to prescriptions and health, including inputting and processing prescriptions, supporting patients with product information, and providing customer service.

Requirements

  • Requires willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to react to frequent changes in volume of work.
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Proficient math skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Must obtain annual flu and vaccination and any job-specific immunizations.
  • Required to submit to a tuberculosis screening process.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician License or Pharmacy Technician Provisional License.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer proficient math skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
  • PTCB certification referred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and ensuring patients receive their medications safely and efficiently, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions with extreme attention to detail.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with patients and healthcare providers to clarify prescription details or resolve medication-related issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering patient inquiries related to medications and refills.
  • Assist patients with medication pick-up, ensuring that all questions about proper usage and dosage are answered by licensed pharmacist.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with customers and healthcare professionals.
  • Accurately label medications and package prescriptions for patients.
  • Monitor and maintain medication inventory, including ordering, stocking, and rotating drugs.
  • Conduct regular stock audits and report any discrepancies to management.
  • Accurately enter prescription information into pharmacy computer systems.
  • Process insurance claims and verify eligibility for medications.
  • Ensure all activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including pharmacy laws.
  • Follow safety protocols to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacists.
  • Assist pharmacists in maintaining efficient workflow.
  • Immediately report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to SPRHC policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Strictly adhere to SPRHC code of conduct and all other policies and procedures.
  • Be responsible and accountable for point-of-sale cash register, accurately collect and handle cash as required.
  • Answer telephone calls from patients and providers, providing excellent customer service.
  • Triage and resubmit third-party program prescription service claims for payment.
  • Complete special projects and other tasks as assigned.
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
  • Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits.
