The Pharmacy Technician – Billing & Data Entry is responsible for accurately entering prescription orders, processing pharmacy billing, and providing exceptional customer service to patients, providers, and account managers. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate prescription processing while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician certification.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a pharmacy data entry or operations role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
  • At least one year of experience using pharmacy software and data management systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be punctual and adaptable to changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a compounding pharmacy operations setting.
  • Experience with prescription order entry and pharmacy billing.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience in a pharmacy data entry or operations role.
  • Knowledge of third-party insurance processing and claim adjudication.
  • Proficiency with the LifeFile pharmacy system.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter prescription orders into the pharmacy management system.
  • Investigate and resolve billing rejections
  • Answer and manage inbound telephone calls (approximately 30–35 calls per day) from patients, healthcare providers, account managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide courteous, professional, and timely customer service while resolving questions related to prescriptions, billing, and medication orders.
  • Communicate with providers' offices to clarify prescription orders and obtain necessary information.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other pharmacy staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely prescription processing.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable pharmacy regulations.
  • Prioritize workload to meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time expectations.
  • Document all communications and interventions accurately within the pharmacy system.
  • Assist with other pharmacy operational duties as assigned.
