Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Certified Medical Assistant required
  • All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiology experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with medication refills and prescription questions as needed in patient care.
  • Works collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical personnel, physicians, and all ancillary services.
  • Completes medication audits, prior authorizations, answering phone calls and tasks, and informing medical assistants, physicians and patients as it relates to medication information.
  • Receives and processes faxed prescription refill requests and collaborates with pharmacies and patients as needed to process these requests within expected time frame.
  • Follows TCC policy and procedure as well as DEA regulations relative to processing Erx, mail order, and faxed prescriptions.
  • Completes Prior Authorization forms, reviews chart for required information, documents process, collaborates with providers, and coordinates peer to peer reviews and management of appeal and denial processes.
  • Informs medical assistants, physicians and patients as it relates to medication information, medication interactions, assistant programs, insurance coverage, sample ordering and distribution at multiple locations.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of cardiac medications, formularies, and pharmacy processes.
  • Accurately updates and documents patient medications and allergies in patient record.
  • Reviews and educates patients regarding their medications within scope of practice.
  • Ensures the sample medications closets are; inventoried, cleaned and date labeled appropriately at multiple locations.
  • Acts as liaison between physicians, staff and pharmaceutical reps to receive medication samples, patient assistant program information, and educational material at multiple locations.
