About The Position
Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician 2 to join the team. This role will be full-time Wednesday – Tuesday, 7on 7off night shifts. 8pm - 6:30am. The Pharmacy Inventory Operations Specialist ensures uninterrupted medication and supply availability through daily purchasing, shortage mitigation, receiving/put-away, inventory optimization, invoice/credit reconciliation, and recall communication. In addition, this role provides as needed daily technician staffing support to maintain operational coverage in patient-care workflows.
Requirements
- High School or GED.
- One (1) year Pharmacy Technician hospital experience.
- One (1) year IV training/experience required.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities
- Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies.
- Accurately pre-packs medications and restocks code cart and stock kits.
- Restocks assigned areas, puts away unused medications in addition to utilizing want book and associated inventory management procedures.
- Orders items, properly stocks shelves, processes returns and identifies vendor errors.
- Accurately fills automated dispensing devices and unit dose pick, first doses and floor stock.
- Assists Pharmacist in drug selection and counting medications accurately.
