About The Position

Assists the Pharmacist by filing physician prescriptions for medications for oral, rectal, topical, and injectable use. Always works under the supervision of a Pharmacist. Enters patient demographic and insurance information into the computer system. Enters prescriptions onto patient profiles. Help maintain pharmacy and OTC inventory. Administer vaccines. Checks patients out at the cash register. Keeps the Pharmacy clean, neat, and organized. Customer service according to the Healing Model.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enters and updates patient demographic, insurance, allergy, and other relevant information into the pharmacy’s computer system, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulations.
  • Assists the pharmacist in filling prescriptions by preparing medications, attaching correct labels, and verifying accuracy to ensure patient safety across all age groups (newborn to elderly).
  • Performs dosage calculations for prescriptions, recognizing appropriate dosage forms and variations for newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Consults the pharmacist promptly with any doubts or discrepancies to prevent errors.
  • Collaborates with the pharmacist to provide medication, drug information, and pharmaceutical services, tailoring care to diverse patient populations while prioritizing safety and minimizing healthcare errors.
  • Processes patient transactions at the register, verifying patient identity, charging accurately, and handling payments (cash, check, credit/debit cards) efficiently and securely.
  • Receives, stores, and organizes incoming medication and supply deliveries. Monitors inventory levels, reorders supplies as needed, and performs scheduled quality control activities to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and organized pharmacy environment, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Answers phone calls professionally, directs inquiries appropriately, and guides patients within the store layout to enhance their experience. Maintains courteous, collaborative relationships with pharmacy and store staff.
  • Performs other pharmacy-related tasks as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet operational needs.
  • Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.
  • Maintains an excellent attendance record.
  • Wears appropriate clothing for job functions. Wears ID badge.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration, and staff.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

  • Consistently presents a polished, professional appearance by adhering to the pharmacy’s dress code, including wearing a clean, appropriate uniform and a visible ID badge at all times.
  • Maintains an excellent attendance record, arriving punctually for shifts and communicating proactively in case of absences or delays, ensuring minimal disruption to pharmacy operations.
  • Builds and sustains positive, cooperative working relationships with pharmacists, store staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support efficient patient care and a harmonious work environment.
  • Represents the pharmacy and organization positively in all interactions, both within the workplace and in the community, reflecting the company’s values and commitment to quality care.
  • Strictly adheres to HIPAA regulations and organizational policies to maintain patient confidentiality at all times, safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Complies with all organizational policies (ex., parking), state and federal regulations (including 340B law and anti-inducement rules), and ethical business practices, including accurate handling of transactions and reporting discrepancies promptly.
  • Consistently provides courteous, empathetic, and efficient service to patients and customers, aligning with the Healing Model’s focus on patient-centered care.
