About The Position

Processes member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware, maintaining merchandise presentation, and monitoring the prescription fulfillment process. Promotes the pharmacy's professional reputation by assisting the pharmacist, processing insurance claims, and providing patient assistance. Enters prescription data into pharmacy software, fills prescriptions, and assists members during prescription pickup. Completes work assignments by using policies, data, and resources, collaborating with others, and adapting to change. Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity. Works as a team, builds relationships, and communicates effectively. Requirements

  • Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.

Responsibilities

  • Processes member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware and using appropriate procedures for different payment types and items sold.
  • Maintains merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies, removing damaged or out-of-date goods, setting up displays, signing and pricing merchandise, and securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise.
  • Maintains the Pharmacy area in accordance with company policies and procedures by handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising functions, identifying shrink and damages, ensuring a safe work environment, and completing required paperwork.
  • Monitors and resolves problems in the prescription fulfillment process by processing third-party insurance claims, alerting patients to inventory issues, and identifying situations requiring pharmacist action.
  • Promotes and maintains the Pharmacys professional reputation and provides patients-members with pharmacy products and services in accordance with laws and policies by assisting the pharmacist, processing insurance claims, assisting patients-members with prescription orders and purchases, and completing required documentation.
  • Provides patient-member service in the Pharmacy area by acknowledging members, identifying needs, initiating the prescription fulfillment process, creating prescription orders, promoting products and services, resolving issues, assisting with purchases, locating merchandise, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Enters prescription data into pharmacy software by reading prescriptions, translating information into system codes, transcribing data, and creating or modifying patient-member records.
  • Fills prescriptions by retrieving orders, counting, pouring, measuring, or weighing medication, mixing or reconstituting medications, selecting, filling, and labeling prescription containers, and operating scanning equipment or automated dispensing systems.
  • Provides member assistance during prescription pickup by verifying and entering patient information, marking prescriptions for pickup, scanning security tags, gathering electronic signatures, and logging the sale of restricted pharmaceutical items.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources, collaborating with managers, coworkers, customers, and other business partners, identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations, carrying out tasks, communicating progress, determining and recommending improvements, and adapting to change, difficulties, and feedback.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing action plans, using the Open Door Policy, and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
